The following are the first steps you should take after an auto accident:
- Call the police and do not leave the scene until the police arrive
- If there is an injury, seek medical help immediately
- Gather all the information you can regarding the other driver such as: Name, address, phone, drivers license, license plate and insurance company name and policy number.
- If there are witnesses get their name, address and phone numbers
- Report the accident to your Auto Insurance Carrier as soon as possible regardless of who is at fault.
- If you are given a traffic ticket, be sure to contact your attorney before you pay any fine or appear in court.
- Before admitting guilt or any direct responsibility for the accident and any resulting injuries, including your own, you should seek your attorney's advice.
